PURIS, the Predictive Unit Real-Time Information Service, is an open-source application for short-term demand and capacity management. It’s part of Eclipse Tractus-X, the open-source side of Catena-X, the data space where companies along the automotive supply chain share data with each other.
What it does
Suppliers and customers usually see only their own side of the supply chain. PURIS lets them share the numbers that matter in the short term, so shortages show up before they turn into stopped lines:
- Stock: how much of an item each partner has on hand.
- Demand: how much material the customer needs in the coming weeks.
- Production: how much the supplier plans to produce.
- Deliveries: what’s on its way, and when it arrives.
- Days of supply: how long current stock will last.
- Disruptions: notifications when something goes wrong along the chain.
The data never goes to a central platform. Each company runs its own PURIS and exchanges data directly with its partners through the Tractus-X connector, and decides who gets to see what. The data formats follow the Catena-X standards, so PURIS can talk to any other system that implements them.
My part
At Achtzig20 we’ve worked on PURIS for several years. It’s a huge and complicated project, and I spent a year on it as a developer and consultant, working on the Java backend and the React frontend.
